For this 20 square-foot tree surround at Tysons Corner Center in McLean, VA, the chosen Flexi-Pave color was Chocolate. Flexi-Mulch was also used at this location, which is a long-lasting, non-moving product that contains every benefit of natural mulch minus the mess and expense of continual maintenance.
Additionally, we repaired part of the playground, which is made up of of EPDM rubber. For you science folks out there, EPDM stand for ethylene propylene diene monomer. Many municipalities and companies are interested in replacing their EPDM playgrounds with a softer, all rubber version of Flexi-Pave, as EPDM doesn’t last very long. Normally, Flexi-Pave is made of 50% recycled tires and 50% granite chips. The all-rubber version of Flexi-Pave is made of 100% recycled tires, and is called P2000, which meets The American Society of Testing and Materials (ASTM) 6-foot fall criteria, plus it lasts a whole lot longer than the EPDM synthetic rubber.
