Installation of a 1380 SF Flexi-Pave sidewalk in color of Peppermill was completed in mid-October 2016. The redevelopment of the Southwest Waterfront, known as The Wharf, is a public-private partnership between Hoffman Madison Waterfront and the District of Columbia, by and through the Office of the Deputy Mayor for Planning and Economic Development. The project site includes 27 acres of land and 24 acres of riparian rights. The site is located between Maine Avenue, SW, 6th Street, SW, the Maine Avenue Municipal Fish Market, and the historic Washington Channel.

The Wharf is a mixed-use development that includes residential apartment units, residential condominiums, hotels, office buildings, retail and restaurants, and a major cultural component. Phase 1 of the project will include two residential buildings containing 800 units, 225,000 square-feet of Class A office space, 145,000 square-feet of retail and restaurant development, a 140,000 square foot multi-use cultural facility, a 700,000 square foot underground garage, several small outbuildings/piers, and two public parks.

Press Release from Balfour Beatty: “Fairfax, Va. – Balfour Beatty’s Washington division has been selected to provide construction management at risk services for The Wharf Parcel 11B – 625 Water Street at Waterfront Park project. The approximately $30 million project marks the company’s first with owner PN Hoffman & Associates, Inc. Designed by SK&I Architectural Design Group, the residential building is 108-units totaling approximately 105,000 square feet. Amenities will include an entrance lobby, landscaped courtyard, club room, private rooftop and courtyard. The five-story condominium building is set over top of a one-story garage substructure with a façade of brick, metal panels and glass. ’We feel privileged to build a world-class building for such a prestigious client,’ said David Laib, senior vice president of Balfour Beatty Construction. ‘It is our hope that The Wharf Parcel 11B is the first of many opportunities to work with PN Hoffman.’ Across from Arena Stage, 625 Water Street is part of the new $1.5 billion Southwest Waterfront mixed-use development in D.C. from Hoffman Madison Waterfront LLC. The new Waterfront will include 560 residential units; 600 hotel rooms; 840,000 square feet of office space; 335,000 square feet of retail space; 2,500 parking spaces; 400-500 marina slips; and cultural spaces including a music hall, museum and maritime education. Construction for the Wharf Parcel 11B is scheduled to begin in August 2014 with completion expected in January 2016. The project further develops Balfour Beatty’s multifamily portfolio in Washington, D.C. The company has delivered more than $800 million worth of multifamily projects in the Washington metropolitan area over the past 10 years.”
